In 1970, David and Barbara Green took a $600 loan to make and sell picture frames out of their home. Two years later, they opened the first Hobby Lobby store. Today, the company has over 1,000 stores and 40,000 employees nationwide. In part 1 of this conversation with Dr. Tim Clinton, CEO David Green and his son, Steve Green, the president, share how they view retail as a platform for ministry. They discuss their commitment to giving away large portions of Hobby Lobby’s profits, keeping stores closed on Sundays, and placing Christ-centered newspaper ads on Christmas and Easter—all to fulfill their calling as faithful stewards and bold witnesses for Christ.
