Hope keeps you waking up and getting out of bed in the morning. Hope keeps you moving forward. When there seems to be no hope on the horizon, it is easy to give in to depression and fear. Thankfully, our hope is in the Lord. May you overflow with hope as you trust in him!

All of us experience suffering to one degree or another. Being content amid that suffering is not easy. Whether we have plenty or we have little, the Apostle Paul reminds us that we must learn to be content. Though we cannot control the circumstances, we can direct our hearts toward contentment.

Scripture exhorts us to look not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of others. Joni shares a story of how she was inspired to consider the needs of someone else above her own. Let us look for those opportunities to humble ourselves and serve others.

As Christians, we are troops on a battlefield, fighting our adversary the devil. Our primary weapon in the battle is prayer. We have a direct line to our Commander to accomplish his mission, but too often we treat prayer like an intercom to request comfortable things. Let us not forget we are fighting a spiritual war, with prayer as our primary fire power.

If you are feeling weak and hollow today, offer your weakness to God in prayer. It is as you decrease that he will increase. Link your emptiness to God’s eternal strength and watch what he will do!

God tells us in his Word that obedience is better than sacrifice. He finds no pleasure in any gift when it’s offered from a heart that is still clinging to willful sins. We must allow the Spirit to examine our hearts and our offerings to Jesus. Obedience is far better than anything else we might bring to the Lord.
