A meek person is not occupied with themself at all. When I am occupied with self, my spirit tends to be either elevated or cast down. But when I'm living for something higher than self, there is a consistency to my spirit. The opposite of meekness is a person who says "I'm going to do what I want to do and I'll fit God in on the peripheral." Is it any wonder that Jesus said, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth"?
