True spirituality is that quality of life in the child of God which satisfies and glorifies the Father. It brings celestial joy and peace to the believer's own heart. Upon it all Christian service depends. Since God purposes to work through human means, the fitness of the instrument will determine the progress made… merely to exhort an unspiritual Christian is a loss of time and one's energy, when the Christian becomes spiritual, he will need no exhortation…(Chafer in the preface to “He that is Spiritual”)

One of our Christian life's great struggles is to think like God thinks concerning sin - ours and others!  Whoever you are and however long you have been walking with God, no matter how old and "mature" you may be.  Sin was and still is a huge issue that every Christian must face.

Herein lies a great principle - what we pursue will determine our quality of life.  Jesus did not come to promise us a broad and easy path of self-pursuit that would lead to our ultimate happiness.  He promised us a narrow way that would deposit our lives in limitless possibilities.

A meek person is not occupied with themself.  When I am occupied with self, my spirit tends to be either elevated or cast down.  But when I'm living for something higher than self, there is a consistency to my spirit.  The opposite of meekness is a person who says "I'm going to do what I want to do and I'll fit God in on the peripheral."  Is it any wonder that Jesus said, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth"?

A meek person is not occupied with themself at all.

Jesus said to the Disciples, "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men."  We are sitting in our churches today because these fishermen stopped fishing for fish and started fishing for men. There is something about Jesus - when you have an encounter with Him, you fish - for men.

About Tim Kelley

Tim Kelley, at the age of 18, surrendered his life and heart to Jesus Christ. After receiving his degree in Biblical Studies, he relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida. In July of 1989 he became the senior pastor of Grace Connection Church and launched a local radio broadcast called “Grace Thoughts”, a daily radio program broadcast in the Tampa Bay region http://wtis1110.com/ and is now heard at www.oneplace.com. Pastor Kelley is now in his 33th year in public ministry here in the Tampa Bay area. He is an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and the Boston Celtics. As you may have guessed, our pastor grew up in New England in the Plymouth Mass. area. Pastor Kelley’s two greatest and heartfelt passions are teaching and preaching a clear gospel of God’s grace and its impact in our daily lives, as well as his love and compassion for people (even if they are not New England Fans).  Pastor Kelley has a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing a second Masters in Counseling, graduating in May 2013.  He is happily married to his beautiful wife of 27 years, Peggy. They have one child at home, Sadie Lynne.  Their beautiful daughter Hannah Grace, in February 2012, went home to be with the Lord, due to a firearm mishap after a church service. Pastor Kelley and Peggy have started the Hannah Grace Foundation in memory of their daughter, which raises funds for the housing, care and education of children and young adults, here locally in the Tampa Bay region, throughout America as well as the third world.
