One group says the Bible is a book about love, mercy, and kindness. They think of the story of the Good Samaritan and of Jesus telling us to turn the other cheek. So how could anyone think the Bible prevents a tolerant society? But for another group, the Bible is far from tolerant. There’s the conquest of Canaan. There’s Elijah killing Baal’s prophets by his own hand. And in the New Testament, Jesus talks often about hell. That’s not tolerant. What then can we say in answer to this question? Peter teaches about the great foundation that will not let you down. Whatever your insecurities, traumas, or difficulties, don't get diverted but build on this solid foundation. So when the storm comes, as it surely will, your house will stand and not fall.

Peter gives advice and sets a worldview about God that shapes how we deal with the curveballs that come to us and helps us keep going in the right direction with a solid path for our lives.

A lot of people get worried about election or think about it as some fatalistic, unfair action on the part of God. But really, the way election functions biblically, it gives us security and certainty, and therefore the motivating power of gratitude.

The great root of personal insecurity is not being known. That's the great part of being at home—people greet you. What election tells us is that God knows us. And we have hope that we're going to be with Him.

Wise Christians do not go on legalistic religious rants on social media, leaving people feeling guilty. They do not dump theological truth on discussion threads with their friends, burying them in an avalanche of spiritual jargon.
