A Tyranny Update
The Roman powers did not have satellites tracking every move you made. They didn't have cameras on street corners, and they didn't have computer databases with thousands of data records on your life, your friends, and your affiliations. And they didn't consume 60% of the Gross National Income. It was more like 6%.
But why do we prefer tyranny as a people? They would rather open their lives up to complete strangers, than be morally and spiritually accountable to people who actually love them! Kevin Swanson boils it down to a question of tyranny or accountable relationships. Either you will be governed by God's social order or Marx and Plato's, and you will subject yourself to a miserable tyranny.
We actually prefer relational living - shepherd centers, family discipleship, and long term accountable relationships.
