MacArthur: Religious Freedom = Idolatry - Does Government Policy Matter?

February 12, 2021

We take a good long look at "religious freedom." Pastor John MacArthur pointed out recently that religious freedom is idolatry, and religious freedom sends people to hell. Does government policy hinder or help the church, according to God's purposes? Are we bound to lose every battle we wage in culture, in our communities, and all of our relationships and spiritual life? We interact with Pastor John's January sermons here. Kevin Swanson points out the necessity of defining terms and bringing clarity to the discussion on these worldview issues.

Why are we suspect of this mRNA programmed to manufacture the spike protein on the Covid Virus, and injected into the human body? Well. . . it’s new. It was released in just 11 months in a rather extended fit of social panic. Etymologically speaking, this COVID-19 shot isn’t a vaccine.  A better word for it would be a “GenPro”—a genetic programming for protein production and immune system response. But really, we wish the inventors would give God the glory, and demonstrate a modicum of the fear of God. How long does it take to really understand the long-term effects of a GenPro?

A quick review of the leading Christian books this year, finds that 74% are written by women authors, 22% by Max Lucado, and 4% by other guys. We tackle the question, "Why don't men read?" And then, we review the four leading "pastors" or women authors directing the faith in America today. They are young and they are divorced, but was that what Paul had in mind in Titus 2?

We interact with Albert Mohler’s take on the minimum wage, urging the use of the Bible when actually developing a biblical worldview. Do we listen to the Austrians? Do we appeal to utilitarian arguments? Or shall we go to God’s objective Word? We draw out biblical principles relating to economics, and then point out that Marx's political economy yields just the opposite of what he sets out to do.

Putting political revivals and rallies ahead of spiritual revival produces a fair amount of chaos. What would Jesus say to the conservatives, the conspiratorialists, and the zealots of our day? Is this AD70, and are we blind to the deep spiritual needs of the country? We also compare the prophetic word of those who prophesied a Trump win with that other prophetic word so needed in the churches today—the Word of God spoken to the wayward church.

There are no boundaries left for the insanity, futility, bizarre-ness, and debasement of modern education. The Secretary of Transgendercation defends boys dressing like girls competing on girls' sports teams, with a straight face, before a Congressional committee. The Romans 1 spiral is complete. We revisit the asylum, and quickly walk through 100 years of continuous worldview and cultural degrade in American schools. But, thank God for the island.

Chainsaws can be helpful, but not in the hands of two-year-olds. Is the Internet helpful or hurtful in the hands of your 18-year-old son? Is it disrupting relationships? Is it introducing unhealthy addictions? After only 15 years of experience with this omnipresent, dangerous power tool, it's still a little too early to assess the damage done to those who handle it badly. Kevin Swanson interviews author and blogger Tim Challies on the good, the bad, and the ugly of the internet age.

Here is an unusual program you haven't heard before, if you live in the West. As you prepare for the coming crackdown, what will it be like to be arrested for your faith? Evangelist and pro-lifer Jim Phillips acquaints us with the ins and outs of arrests, booking, jail, and prison ministry from the inside. Based on some background from communist countries, churches will need to know how to cope with betrayal and keep the church meeting place secure. Practical pointers could come in handy from this conversation.

America is erasing the past. The monuments are coming down. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and all the past leaders are erased from the buildings and the monuments. "Every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, and every date has been altered." How does Proverbs 30:11-14 speak to this revolutionary culture? How will this civilization continue if the past is erased and the foundations are deconstructed?

Those lacking solid Christian foundations are increasingly caught up in the confusion of Guilt Manipulators, Marxist Moralisms, and the doctrine of "White Privilege." The term itself is slippery, but that's on purpose. The underlying goal is guilt manipulation—the Marxists playing off on the psychological problem of guilt. Kevin Swanson analyzes the psychological and worldview elements underlying the revolutionary language used to divide races, nations, and even the church.

History is replete with sin. Lots of sin. Tribes killing each other. Tribes taking land from each other. Did the Saxons steal land from the Brits in AD 450? And how are we going to get reparations going? But how do we adjudicate these sins, if they were sins, and how would we ever determine whose more guilty than anybody else? After offering a prayer at the polytheistic prayer service for the inauguration of Joe Biden, "Christian" author Jen Hatmaker is repenting for America. But why not repent of real sins, that is, breaking God's laws He gave them to us in the Scriptures?
