Generational Revival or Degrade? - Voddie Baucham Appraises American Faith

July 7, 2021

Christianity in the West is dying out one generation at a time and one family at a time. Here, Voddie Baucham asks the question, “Can Faith Survive in a Post-modern Culture?” Combining the problems of sinking birth rates and the inability of families to pass along their tepid faith to the next generation, the U.S. church is facing a severe decline. But there is hope for the salvage of the Christian church in the West as the faithful submit both their doctrine and practice to the authority of the Word of God.

The five richest businesses in America are mostly fluff, and extremely unstable persons are running them. The leaders of the 2020s are nowhere near the stable and responsible leaders of the 1970s. This is what the end looks like, as real productivity and true value is of little interest to the modern investor. The Price to Earnings are now in the O-zone, and the federal government is 35-fold the tyranny it was 100 years ago. We tell you what’s really going on in your world today, and address the obvious questions. If there were a return to sanity, what would the government do? What should you do?

So what are the differences between the Ancient Greek Olympics and modern Olympics? A little more clothing, egalitarian sports, and transgender madness. And that's about it. The abandonment of God's law will end the Me-Too movement in utter frustration, not to mention the feminists and transgenders, who themselves can't get along with each other anymore. Women want to be in the same roles as men in every employment and athletic competition. . . except for the fact that they don't. Men who want to be women want to be in the same roles as women in every employment and athletic competition. . . except for the fact that the women don't want them too. . . but they're not supposed not want them to, because everybody is supposed to be okay with choosing your own gender.

Churches are fracturing over homosexuality now, and the largest corporations are almost without exception making their proper prostrations to the god of sodomy. We carefully analyze the worldview of a deodorant advertisement. Women are no longer nurturers—they must be fierce and cruel. But most importantly, one must assume the arrogance and pride to define one's own sexual and gender identity—and don't sweat the guilt with this deodorant!

The Pied Piper of all pied pipers in the world now controls the minds of the world with $65 billion/yr up from $2 billion/yr in 1985. That beats the $25 billion given to Christian missions around the world. But what is this worldview, now featuring drag queens hanging out with Kermit the Frog? How have the values shifted since the 1990s? How does it remain the same? We analyze the worldview according to Walt's own testimony. Shall we raise our children on Disney for another generation?

Here are several ideas for developing a family economy in a family-disintegrating age. While money is not an end in itself, how might we be good stewards of capital in an extremely destabilized age? First lay up treasures in heaven, teach your children the Word of God, and disciple the next generation of church leaders for the worldwide body of Christ. Then, think about building a family economy to replace the socialist economies that have done so much damage in the last 40 years.

Could the reversal of the Smith Supreme Court decision result in more liberty for Christians. . .and peyote-smoking natives who worship their false gods? The conservatives on the bench are hinting for a little more liberty for those caught up in the regulative state. Will it come by reversing Employment Division v. Smith? History bears out a lot of surprises, because you know who is in charge of it!

The monthly child welfare/tax credit check starts on July 15th. This hands at least 50% of American kids over to Caesar one more time. We go over the history of power grabs as Caesar systematically moved control of children, their education, welfare, health, etc. onto the state. Do we really want the slave master to own our children? Is it a fair trade for womb-to-tomb security? Or should Christian families go the other way and develop a family economy?

Parents are up in arms in the Loudoun County, Virginia, school board meeting over a lot of things. Pornography in the literature class, critical race theory, and the transgendering of the schools. The county turned blue in 2016, and represents a lot of places around the country. No wonder 14.5% of Americans with kids have turned to homeschooling. But will Homer really beat out the porn in terms of the fundamental worldview operating? What about classical education? Will that be a worthy alternative?

The New York Times, MSNBC, and Washington Post were pretty excited about the new president for the Southern Baptist Convention. What does that mean? Not sure. But, Ed Litton is more concerned about the rise of fundamentalism in the Southern Baptist denomination than he is about any liberalism. We talk about the two ditches here. If you can only see one, you're probably in the other.

Homeschooling is a permanent fixture in America’s academic future, and some of our leading academics call it the “brightest light.” An explosion is happening in the homeschooling population, and the minority groups are leading the pack. Numbers range between 5 million and 8 million, up from 3 million in 2019. What does this mean for the future of America and the rest of the world? Is it time to say “Goodbye” to public schools? Kevin Swanson goes over a hot-off-the-press survey with HSLDA Attorney Mike Donnelly concerning the new homeschooling movement in America.
