Celebrating Black History: One Family's Story - I
America lost a civil rights champion when Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed in 1968. But did you know that his younger brother, Alfred Daniel Williams King, also died a violent death in 1969? And that in 1974, their mother was fatally shot while playing the organ at Ebenezer Baptist Church? On today’s edition of Family Talk, Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr., and the daughter of Alfred Daniels Williams King, recalls to our own Dr. Tim Clinton the pain of their deaths and the rage that developed inside her. Over time, and since her commitment to Jesus Christ in the 1980s, Alveda has embraced her mother’s motto: “Love, forgive, and heal on your feet.”
