Could the blacks have been set free without the loss of life between the states? Most definitely and here is why: William Wilberforce (1759 -1833), the English Antislavery politician. Was a committed evangelical Christian whose political views were very conservative, and he devoted most of his parliamentary career to the abolition of the slave trade and slavery in England. He also campaigned for legislation to prohibit the worst forms of child labor. The healing of the races could have been achieved instead of the scars that have been so hard to heal even with the passage of time.
