The Message that Paved the Way for America Part 14

August 13, 2012
In his message, "Sinners in the hands of an angry God" Jonathan Edwards he reminded his audience of the grave danger they were in if they continued to provoke the anger of God by  not living according to His standards. Taking the Mediator, Jesus, for granted is not an option because Jesus will never mediate for anything that goes against what Father God has already established.

Jonathans Edwards clearly reminded his audience that God is under no obligation to hold back his wrath when people persist in their rebellion to his precepts.  Even if you have a form of religiosity and may have reformed certain things in your life or attend a congregation or place of worship regularly, but if there has been no great change of heart by the Spirit of God, it is questionable if you have even been born again.

Continuing with the analysis of Jonathan Edwards' message, "Sinners in the hands of an angry God", we must learn that just because God's judgment doesn't happen immediately when sin is committed doesn't mean that the consequences are not accumulating against us and when sin has reached its limit the wrath of God will burst forth like waters that burst a dam.

Jonathan Edwards' message, "Sinners in the hands of an angry God" clearly spells out that people who are Christians in name only are on the verge of going into hell any moment and they are not aware of it.  Judging from the results of the faith surveys that are done that reveal 90+ believe in God and 86% claim to have a personal relationship with Him yet that doesn't translate in evidence of Christ in their lives, this clearly shows that most Christians in America are in name only.

Jonathan Edwards' powerful message that sparked the First Great Awakening in America clearly points out that God is under no obligation to fulfill promises to people who live to please their fallen human nature even if they choose to call themselves Christians and go through the motions of a religious person. The contrary is true; hell awaits with its mouth wide open to swallow them up and God will have no choice but to allow it to happen because that is the individual's choice.

If you knew that today was the last day of your life, how would you live it? In his message "Sinners in the hands of an angry God" Jonathan Edwards spoke very clearly of how death is no respecter of persons and there is nothing anyone can do to add even one single moment to their earthly life when their time is up. How should we then live?

Continuing the analysis of Jonathan Edwards' message "Sinners in the hands of an angry God" is if humans only lived with the reality that eternity is just a heart beat away and that when God says someone's time is up here on earth, there is nothing to stop Him; folks would live in a much different way. What would life be like if people were truly aware that they will be held accountable for every thought, word and deed?

What makes man think that he is powerful enough to force God to alter His established order of anything?  Something that should never leave the minds of mere humans because if God does not restrain sin we would very quickly be eliminated from the face of the earth because the corruption in the heart of man is boundless.

Humans make the mistake that because God doesn't immediately apply His judgment when disobedience is committed that sanctions won't come.  We must never underestimate God's defense of righteousness.  It would be a terrible mistake to think that God is not angry with all the sin that has crept into the church today.

We continue to analyze the relevancy of Jonathan Edwards' message "Sinners in the hands of an angry God" delivered 280 ago. Here is a question: what happens when we violate the covenant with God? John 3:18  says, "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God." This clearly shows we leave God no option but to release His sanctions because God will never betray himself and the order He has established which He will not alter for anything or anyone.

Humans must accept the fact that there is no power on earth or the universe that can deliver us from God's power when He decides to act. But we must also factor in that by the time God acts in judgment is because he has considered all the angles and opportunities that His mercy and patience will allow so that He can always act in righteousness. God will never betray Himself in nullifying what He has already established in His Sovereignty. He always acts in justice.

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
