Pilgrims and Puritans in America Part 1

October 24, 2019

To understand the origin and design of America, we must go back in history to the 1500s. The early colonists came to this land for many reasons. But there is no doubt about the main purpose of the Pilgrims and Puritans for coming to America was to practice religious freedom. In the grand scheme of things in God’s plan of redemption for the human race; God has always required people to develop his master plan for the world.

To be a Christian is more than just accepting Christ. It means to imitate the life of Christ before the world. It means to endeavor to follow His footsteps and live as He lived. Some may say: “God knows that I can’t be sinless like Jesus.” This is a lie and an excuse that will bring great harm to the individual, not only in this life but throughout eternity. If we are going to grow in the faith, we must nourish daily from the Word of God.

What is a Christian? When the world statistics say there are 2.1 billion Christians in the world today (almost 30% of the world population) and we don’t see the evidence of Christ in the magnitude to match those numbers, something has got to be wrong. Especially when we consider that the small numbers of the first century Christians impacted their known world that had a ripple effect up until our day, we have to ask, what is missing from the lives of those who call themselves Christians in our world today?

When I deny forgiveness to others, I am burning a bridge that I will need to cross someday. More often than I care to admit, I will need the forgiveness of others. When God forgives, “He hurls all of our iniquities into the depths of the sea” (Micah 7:19b). Why hinder that liberty that has been granted us by refusing to forgive those who have offended us?

There is a right way and a wrong way to understand forgiveness. But we must make an effort since it is something so essential to life. Thankfully, God’s Word has a lot of very clear understanding on this subject, so we have the most reliable source to glean from. What is the definition of forgiveness?

Why is it important to talk about true forgiveness? Because we must be aware that forgiveness from God is the basis of forgiveness to others. We will not enter into the kingdom of heaven if we don’t forgive those who have offended us. True forgiveness brings good results to our lives. Forgiveness without the biblical foundation is superficial, temporal and conditional. Forgiveness from God’s perspective is thorough, deep, permanent, healing and far-reaching.

If you were arrested today for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? Would a judge and jury find you guilty of being a Christian? If you are not sure, then don’t you think it is time to start making some changes while you still have the time? If someone were to follow you around to observe your life for a few weeks, what conclusion would they come up with. Would they say you are truly a Christian or just playing the part?

What is the number one culprit of all that causes chaos, turmoil, suffering, disease, broken families, discord, animosity, poverty, war and death? The impact and havoc is felt and manifests in our conscience, character, body and even in our children. If you ignore it, it will grow until it robs you of all that is good. Never allow it to be a thief in your life.

What God is saying here is that there is no "statute of limitations" in regard to the debt of sin; it must be paid. Just because retribution doesn’t happen immediately does mean that sin will be overlooked. There are many people that live with the erroneous belief that unless someone reveals their sin to someone else, no one will ever know, but sin will always be discovered one way or another.

Sin has devastating consequences. Unless sin is dealt with completely and eradicated God’s way, it will keep coming back into our lives to create havoc and the longer it stays the greater the damage because sin grows. Wouldn’t you like to know how quickly you can deal with sin according to the Word of God before it has opportunity to work its evil effects in your life?

It is difficult to comprehend why many (most) people do not prepare to meet God. Or, they try to prepare according to what they think will work to get accepted by him when they finally arrive at his door. Human beings are living souls; very different than plants and animals.  Physical life is limited to a short span of time here on earth. God, in his sovereign will, has established each and every person’s life span. Death is a sure thing in life. So, the obvious question should be Where are we going? Where do we go after our physical death?

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
