Disciples Under God's Discipline Part 4

December 7, 2010
To be a follower or disciple of Jesus Christ requires a total commitment to embrace the knowledge of God and of His Christ and to be empowered and guided by the Holy Spirit. This means that a disciple must be under God's discipline as revealed throughout the Scriptures no matter if you agree with it or not.

"If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.  If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will done for you.  By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples." (John 15:6-8).

Looking back at a life without Christ thinking we were better off is no different from the Israelites who were delivered from the bondage of slavery in Egypt and constantly murmured, gossipped and rebelled against God's higher calling to be a unique people for Him in the world. This is the reason why Christ was clear when he stated that anyone who wants to be his disciple and looks back to the old lifestyle is not fit for the kingdom of God in this world much less in the one to come.

The followers of Christ were known as disciples.  Some time later before the pagans called them "Christians" Christ called people to be disciples; followers of Him.  The fact remains, in this life we are saved to be like Jesus.  It is He who called us to be His own, to follow after Him.  To do so comes at a cost.

The church was never meant to be a place of entertainment, rather a training camp for all of God’s kings and priests that they might effectively develop gifts in their God-given area of service. They are to receive a clear understanding of all the worldviews so they can never be swayed by enticing humanistic philosophies and doctrines of men. These are warriors equipped with the full armor of God to fight against the demonic forces whose strongholds must be destroyed in all areas of life.

Qualified individuals, men and women, who truly know how to be led by the Holy Spirit understand the purpose of the church and do not subject individuals to an institution created by men. Rather, they point them to Jesus Christ who is the head of the church. They do not take lightly the words of Jesus who said: "Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more." (Luke 12:48).

You and I are confined in the world by time, space and circumstance with a divine purpose. We were made and equipped to solve problems and to manifest the knowledge of God. If there are so many in the world who claim to be of the Christian faith why is there so much turmoil in the world?

The conditions of the world do not change God’s original plan for the world and all of His creation.  The best thing we can do is to keep our eyes focused on that original plan to arrive at the full potential of our design.  Once we lose sight of that focus of the centrality of the knowledge of God man self destructs.

A correct thanksgiving tradition began dating back beyond the pilgrims and Puritans, all the way back to thousands of years into the history of the Hebrew people. The Bible reveals what the practice of thanksgiving meant to the children of Israel. Thanksgiving was a time of great celebration with fasting and feasting to praise God; expressed with songs and great joy. In modern Israel, some locations have this burst of joyful celebration even in the streets. Yes, the Bible has many instances of calling people for a celebration, but also for deep national soul-searching

Humans have a tendency to admire those who shine in their field of expertise like science, sports, arts, literature, education and entertainment, to name a few.  It may seem like powerful and gifted human beings are in control of the world but they are not.  Humans cannot be truly unique without God's knowledge and power to do exploits. He is the true source of all greatness.

We are so privileged; so unique before God and men that nothing should stop us from fulfilling our calling in Christ as we move fearlessly with wisdom to accomplish the impossible; God is with us therefore we are more than conquerors.

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
