About The Crosswalk.com Editorial Staff

Shawn McEvoy is the Managing Editor of Crosswalk.com. Shawn came to Salem in 2005 after completing his Master’s degree in writing from Virginia Commonwealth University and spending several years as a fantasy sports columnist and college admissions counselor. Shawn is a native Arizonan who studied Youth Ministry and English at Oklahoma Baptist University before making his way to the East Coast. He is married with two children, enjoys discussing pop culture through the lens of the Christian worldview, and aims to be all things to all men. Not an especially politically-minded believer, Shawn’s favorite Bible verse is 2 Timothy 1:7, and his favorite authors include Max Lucado, Donald Miller, and John Eldredge.

John UpChurch, senior editor of Jesus.org and BibleStudyTools.com, thinks every written word has the opportunity to share the gospel and equip followers of Christ. He also spends a great deal of time sorting through his own writings to figure out which words do that — and which are better deleted. With a background in English and creative writing (BA from the University of Tennessee) and several years experience at a para-church ministry prior to joining Salem, he seeks to explore the depth and richness of God’s Word as literature and as a beautiful, cohesive narrative of God’s grace.

Alex Crain is the editor of Christianity.com. While completing his M.Div. studies at The Master's Seminary (2003), Alex served as a staff editor and pastoral resident for family ministries at Grace Community Church in the Los Angeles area. He has subsequently served at various churches in the areas of teaching, outreach, small groups and worship ministries. In addition to writing and editing for Salem Web Network, Alex also serves as associate pastor at Grace Bible Church in Richmond, Virginia.

Kelly Givens is an editor at the Salem Web Network. A native of Chesapeake, Virginia, Kelly graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Media Arts and Design. After working for various non-profits in busy Washington D.C. and then in the Shenandoah Valley, she and her husband have found a comfortable middle ground in Richmond. Kelly has written for American OutlookPrism Magazine and various online publications. In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing and the great outdoors.

Debbie Wright is an assistant editor for Crosswalk.com. She began working for Salem in the summer of 2012, just after graduating from Regent University where she got her B.A. in English with a concentration in Multimedia Communication. A long-time participant in community theatre, she also minored in Theatre Arts at Regent, and continues to serve the Richmond arts community as a member of Thursdaenite Players. Debbie’s spends her work-hours indulging in her passions of reading, writing and editing, where she works hard to promote Christ-centered family resources on Crosswalk. Otherwise she can be found engaging in fellowship with friends and family, writing letters, playing folk music, pursuing theatre, and generally being excited about getting married in March 2013.

Anna Kuta, the editor of ReligionToday.com, reports on current events and issues impacting Christians around the world. Born and raised in Virginia, Anna is a 2011 graduate of the University of Richmond, where she majored in journalism and political science and served on student government and the student newspaper staff. When she isn't writing or editing, you can most likely find her hanging out with her church's middle school youth group, watching basketball and football, or searching for new gluten-and-dairy-free dessert recipes. She was blessed to grow up in a Christian home, and since beginning a personal relationship with Christ at age 17, she is realizing more and more the importance of remaining grounded in God's Word. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 13:6.

Ryan Duncan is TheFish.com’s pop culture editor. He explores the latest works in movies, music, TV, and books, and reviews them through a Christian worldview lens. He received his B.A. in Writing from Taylor University, and moved to Richmond to join Salem Web Network in 2010. When not reading and writing for work, Ryan is reading and writing for fun.

Stephen Sanders is the audio/video editor at Salem Web Network. He has been working in religious television and web since 2005 & is currently a Biblical Studies major at Moody Bible Institute. Stephen enjoys spending his time with his wife and three daughters, taking fantasy sports way more seriously than he should, strumming an acoustic guitar/plucking an electric bass, or listening to music that no one else seems to enjoy but him.

Stephen McGarvey is the editorial director of the Salem Web Network, and executive editor of Crosswalk.com. He has previously worked for BreakPoint with Chuck Colson, the Home School Legal Defense Assoc. and has been regular contributor to byFaith Magazine.
