with Soldiers, Veterans and Supporters
Operation Heartlift had the privilege of joining the welcome home of the 235th Sapper Co. National Guard Unit this week. Helicopters, patriot rider guards, police and fire escorts, MOMS and other Support our Troops groups joined family and friends of soldiers returning from Afghanistan. Bus windows flew open and the soldiers were waving, smiling, taking our pictures and many had tears in their eyes. In this relatively small unit, many were wounded - 62 purple hearts, many medals of honor...Sharon had a chance to talk with them.
