Discerning the Difference

March 23, 2020

Through our ministry, Carrie is learning a lot about God’s grace and her new identity in Christ. But in the process, she’s encountering popular teachings that now stand out as questionable. So she called in to our radio program to share her concerns.

In this short clip, I address what Carrie has been reading lately about God's forgiveness and answer these important questions:

Do we have to wonder if our heart is repentant enough?Does God only forgive us when we are able to stop a sin?Do we have to "go to God" and "move into" His forgiveness? How would we know when we've moved into it?

Chris was confused. People taught him that if he did not truly repent of all his sins, he was not really saved. But then Chris noticed that these same teachers continued to struggle with sin themselves, just like him! So, is there a “repentance ultimatum” in the Gospel? Do we only remain saved if we continue with excellent performance? Where do “infants in Christ” (1 Cor. 3:1) fit into the picture? In this short clip, I address Chris’ confusion and clarify what it means to be saved and to grow up in Christ.

For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins...” (Hebrews 10:26) Is this passage saying we can outsin the grace of God and there’ll be no sacrifice left? Might the blood of Jesus run out on us? Here's the truth about Hebrews 10!
