Luke 5:15 But now more than ever the word about Jesus spread abroad; many crowds would gather to hear him and to be cured of their diseases.
For many a would-be Christ-follower, something appears to be missing. The world seems to have convinced us that outward appearances, busy lives, transactional relationships - that's where it's all at these days.
But you and I know that that sort of life just leads to shallow relationships don't we?
Is that the sort of relationship with Jesus that your heart hungers for?
The sort of gathering where outward appearances matter? Where the way that we dress and the way that we speak and the way that we serve God are the things that matter? Because none of those things seemed to matter to Jesus. Have a listen:
But now more than ever the word about Jesus spread abroad; many crowds would gather to hear him and to be cured of their diseases.
But he would withdraw to a deserted place and pray.

Amidst this clamor and clanging, do you hear Him calling? Jesus

"Love your enemies." I think those three words sum up what it means to forgive.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life (Rom. 6:23). As inspiring as organ donors are, imagine what Jesus sacrificed to give us life.
In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us (Rom. 8:37). The world wants us to believe that winning is solving all our problems. Removing the source of pain. But Paul knew that wasn't true.
I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him (Eph. 1:17). Every time I think that I'm as close to God as I can be, He takes me deeper - to a new level.
