The Path Toward Freedom

John 16:8 (NIV®)

“When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment.”

Jesus did not gain the authority for the Holy Spirit to be at work in our lives so that we could show off by doing miracles. He wanted us to have the Holy Spirit so that we ourselves could be transformed. Without the Spirit’s help our sinful nature will choose godlessness because we think it will make us happier than godliness. When we try one ungodly path and it doesn’t work out so well, we will try another ungodly path. That will go on until we allow the Spirit of God to show us the sinful attitudes of our heart and lead us on a pathway that will bring freedom and contentment and spiritual maturity to our lives. God’s Spirit will help us find freedom from the things that leave us frustrated and perhaps even tormented. If you can honestly say, “I have done my best to make me happy, and I am not there,” allow the Spirit of God to help you. He is waiting to be asked!

The Holy Spirit will lead us toward the satisfaction that is only found when we are being transformed into the likeness of Christ. Are you intentionally inviting Him to work in your life?

Heavenly Father, I commit myself into Your care. Your wisdom and strength watch over me. Give me the boldness and humility to follow You with joy. Help me to not grow weary but to have a steady and constant faith. Enable me to be a teachable servant for Your glory. My desire is to please and honor You all of my days. Thank You for the deliverance You are bringing and the compassion for others You are cultivating in me. To You be all praise and honor. Amen.
