Paycheck and Privilege
“Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.”
How many of you would go to work if you didn’t get paid? I wouldn’t, and I don’t imagine you would either. We go to work when we don’t want to, we work harder than we’re asked to, we keep working when we’d rather stop, and we do all of that with the expectation that someone will reward us for it. Serving God is a privilege, but it often looks and feels like work―sometimes very hard work. But God is very upfront with us. He said if we honor Him and serve Him during our days in the earth, we will be rewarded.
Heavenly Father, sometimes working for You is easy and a pleasure and sometimes working for You is hard and uncomfortable. Jesus said that I will be rewarded for even giving a cup of cold water. Thank You for Your kindness and Your faithfulness and Your generosity toward me. Thank You for the privilege of serving You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
