Lifted Above

Psalm 138:7-8 (NIV®)

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me. The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever―do not abandon the works of your hands.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the circumstances that beset our lives from season to season do not intimidate God. It would be easy to think, “God, this situation will destroy all that You could do through me!” But God looks at our circumstances from His viewpoint. “What’s bothering you, Moses? The Egyptian army has you backed up against the sea? I’ll take care of it. You need water for a couple million people? Try the rock.” “What’s the problem, David? An angry giant? I can handle this. Do you have your slingshot?” Whatever the situation, His desire is to lead us through and lift us above our circumstances, not to abandon the work He has started in us. The Lord has promised to fulfill His purposes in us, and I choose to believe Him.

Have there been times when you have been overwhelmed by your circumstances but God lifted you above them? Be quick to give Him glory for His deliverance and provision in your life.

Heavenly Father, Your name is above all names, and Your ways are higher than my ways. I choose to open my heart and receive all You have for me. I want to cooperate with You. Apart from You I have no hope. I rejoice in Your faithfulness and trust You for protection from my enemies and the snare that is set for me. I will choose to serve You and look for Your purposes and Your love, which endures forever. In Jesus’ name, amen.
