Titus 2:11-13 (NIV®)

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

It’s easy as an American Christian to think that we can know God and love God but keep Him tucked away in a God-folder where we file “attended church” and “gave an offering” or “volunteered for an event. But we also have a separate family-folder, a friends-folder, a fun-folder, and a business-folder, and they’re all neatly organized. Being a Christ-follower means that you don’t have a God-folder, but that you put God in all your folders—family, friends, work, fun, finances, etc. None of us begins our faith-journey with a life wide open to God, but as we learn more about His love and His faithfulness we will welcome Him gladly into every “folder” of our lives.

Heavenly Father, I ask You to forgive me for keeping You separate from the more broad areas of my life. I want to live a life that is open to your perspective. Show me the places or “folders” where I need more of You and give me the wisdom to know how to begin the process of inviting You into my whole life. I thank You that You are patient to help me one step at a time. In Jesus’ name, amen.
