CAREFULLY PLACED TRUST
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
Where do you place your ultimate trust? In your physical abilities? In your capacity to acquire resources? In the psalmist’s time, people put their trust in the strength of chariots and horses to protect and defend. But this passage says instead of bolstering our strength with our abilities and resources, we should put our trust in the name of the Lord. We need that awareness in more than language; we need to live like we believe it. I’m not counseling foolishness. Don’t cancel your insurance or stop giving your children their medicine. But let’s strive to understand the power of God to deliver us and protect us.
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are my Protector and Defender. Forgive me for the times I have placed my trust in my own strength and resources. I want to put my trust in You in a new way. In Jesus’ name, amen.
