No Accountability

Then David said to Achish, “If I have now found favor in your eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there. For why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?” So Achish gave him Ziklag that day. Therefore Ziklag has belonged to the kings of Judah to this day. Now the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was one full year and four months.
1 Samuel 27:5-7

David was not really accountable to King Achish. He did not want to stay with him in the royal city. David followed his own plans and his own agenda. David played a role before the king. He pretended to be accountable to the king, but he was living a lie. David remained in the land of the Philistines, joined to the enemy, for 16 long months––sad. God needed to help David get to the place where he needed to be.

There are many Christians who do not want to be accountable to anyone. They even say they are safe around worldly people––the enemies’ camp. No possible way, my friends. Satan will always bring you to a place where you are not trusting in God. He will place fear into your heart. God, in His grace and mercy, will intervene in your life to help you get to the place where He wants you to be.

When Jesus was arrested by the religious leaders, Peter, after attempting in his own strength to fight for the Lord, ran in fear. Jesus was questioned. Although innocent of all charges, Jesus was led outside the city of Jerusalem and crucified on the Cross. During this time, what happened to Peter? He followed Jesus afar off––watching. Peter warmed himself in the camp of the enemy. When questioned, He denied the Lord (John 18:1-27). It was not until Jesus intervened in Peter’s life that he was recommissioned (John 21:15-17).

Are you in a wrong place, warming yourself in the enemies’ camp? Stop running from the Lord’s plans for your life. Trust His ways.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
~Isaiah 55:8~
