A Woman of Wisdom

So when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed be the Lord, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and has kept His servant from evil! For the Lord has returned the wickedness of Nabal on his own head.” And David sent and proposed to Abigail, to take her as his wife. When the servants of David had come to Abigail at Carmel, they spoke to her saying, “David sent us to you, to ask you to become his wife.”
1 Samuel 25:39-40

Notice, God removed Nabal from society––the earth. David did not have to take matters into his own hands and fight this battle. God took care of the situation. God struck Nabal in judgment and he died!

Once David heard about Nabal’s death, he remembered Abigail, and he sent her a marriage proposal. From the first time they met, David was very impressed by Abigail’s wise character. David desired her as his wife, because she was both wise and beautiful. Abigail’s wisdom would be useful to him in the kingdom.

Notice, God had a tremendous plan for Abigail, despite her difficult marriage. As a widow, He honored her commitment and the wise actions she had taken. He gave Abigail, a woman of godly wisdom, to David to be his wife. God’s will is so perfect––amazing!

What about you and me, does God have plans for us? Yes, He does! If you find yourself today in what seems to be an impossible situation, pray and do not lose hope. Ask God to give you His wisdom for each day. God is working behind the scenes of your life, moment by moment. He has a perfect plan that is unfolding; you just cannot see into the future, but God can.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
