Live Peaceably

Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
Romans 12:17-18

What Paul addressed next was very important in the life of a Christian. It was a believer’s relationship to their enemies. A Christian should not repay evil for evil. They cannot play God in giving out judgment to others. Paul exhorted Christians. It was an encouragement to let God take care of the situation––not them!

Christians are not to be at war with anybody. They are called to be peacemakers. If a person disagrees with you and they do not want to hear what you have to say, then tell them, “I am sorry I cannot do anything more for you, God bless you, I will pray for you.” In fact, Paul gave young Timothy, a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, this sound advice:

…avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will (2 Timothy 2:22-26).

As a Christian, do not argue with people. You will never get to the heart of a person unless God gets to your heart first. Allow the Holy Spirit to work!

Blessed are the peacemakers, and one sure way of peacemaking is to let the fire of contention alone. Neither fan it, nor stir it, nor add fuel to it, but let it go out by itself. Begin your ministry with one blind eye and one deaf ear.
