Great Man of God
Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David). Now David said on that day, “Whoever climbs up by way of the water shaft and defeats the Jebusites (the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul), he shall be chief and captain.” Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.” - 2 Samuel 5:7-8
Even though the city had not been taken in about 400 years, David was not discouraged. He knew if he was faithful to the Lord, He would enable David and his men to take the city. God would give them victory in the battle, because He would show them the way to overcome.
It is important to understand; the city of Jerusalem is the highest point. It is the city on a hill and it was surrounded by a wall. The watchmen on the walls could see any army that came out to take them. Not only were they able to see the enemy and prepare, but the wall was very hard to overcome, because they were on a hill.
David knew all the problems, but God showed him the way in; they entered through the water shaft. They did not even try to go over the wall. God made David a great military strategist; a great military leader and king. Ultimately, David was a great man of God, and he allowed God to guide and direct him.
That is what we need to be in our lives. If we want to be great men and women of God, used tremendously by Him, we have to have open ears, open eyes and open hearts to the Lord. Then He can direct our paths.
The Christian is called upon to live a supernatural life, and he has been given the power to live that life.
