Are You Lacking Wisdom?

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 1:5-8

Christians need God’s wisdom to live in this world. Understand, the natural man does not have the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 2:14). King Solomon wrote over 3,000 proverbs of wisdom. I believe that it is a good practice for Christians to read systematically through the Bible, and as they do, they should include one proverb in the morning, to give them wisdom for the day, and a psalm before they go to bed at night.

Some Christians fail to ask God for His wisdom for any decisions they make. Have you ever tried to make decisions without the Lord? It will make you waver; you will be tossed to and fro about it. You may have trouble deciding what to do––that is being a double-minded man.

It is important not to make decisions using worldly wisdom. For instance, if you do not pray about a financial decision, you could get into financial trouble, purchasing something you should not have bought. God is trying to teach you. The Apostle Paul warned Christians about worldly wisdom:

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God (1Corinthians 3:18-19).

Always make decisions in your life with the wisdom of God. He knows what is best for your life. It is important to pray by faith and ask God, “Is this your will?”  Then wait on Him for the answer. God will give you the wisdom you need right from the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). God will bless you. In humility, worship Him and thank Him for His wisdom.

Wisdom is not the growth of human genius.
It must be sought from above.
