Mercy Triumphs Over Judgment

So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
James 2:12-13

Who stands to be judged as under the Law? It is the non-believer, because they will not accept God’s grace freely given to them. When they stand before the judgment seat of God, they will be judged for their sins, according to the Law:

Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. . .  And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books . . . each person was judged according to what they had done (Revelation 20:11-13 NIV).

What is the law of liberty? It is: Grace, mercy and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love (2 John 3 HCSB). God establishes the work of grace and truth in us through His Son Jesus Christ: For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ (John 1:17).

I know my mistakes and sins. That is why I like to show mercy and grace to others, because God has been so merciful and gracious to me. Christians should show God’s love to others––be compassionate and gracious. What we speak should be shown through our actions. May God help us to apply these things to our lives.

Take an examination of your life today. If you were to die and stand before God, would you stand before Him at the white throne judgment, or would you stand to receive His grace and mercy? (Matthew 10:32; Luke 12:8) If you are lacking God’s mercy, call on the name of the Lord and be saved!

God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.
~Romans 3:25 NIV~
