God of Peace

For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
Romans 16:19-20

I love what Paul states here. These Christians became known to all for their obedience to Christ. They were good witnesses. How about us? Do people know of our obedience and love for Jesus Christ? I hope they can see our good witness!

Paul gave another important precept for Christians to follow. He basically said, “You do not have to learn about evil, if you can stay innocent concerning evil––then praise God!” Seriously, Christians do not have to fill their minds with wickedness. Stay away from anything evil on your TV’s, magazines and computers. Avoid those who talk filthiness, and those who try to seduce you. Do not engage in conversations with those talking about wickedness. They will try to make you stumble by placing evil in your mind. You do not have to find out about evil––you know enough about evil already. It is much more beneficial to hang out with godly people who love the Lord. For companionship, make godly friends.

Paul reminds us that Satan is a doomed foe. He hates those who are committed to Jesus Christ. Yet he has no power over our lives. God will protect and watch over us. He has to go to the throne of God to ask permission to tempt us, like in the case of Job. Satan is limited; he has been given boundaries. In a time of temptation, God always gives us a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13).

The God of peace will crush Satan. Do you remember the prophecies given in Genesis 3:15 and Revelation 20:1-2? Satan will be bound! There is a time when Satan will be thrown into the Lake of Fire along with the Antichrist, the False Prophet and hell and death (Revelation 20:10;14). Those people who rejected Jesus Christ as their Savior will spend eternity with Satan, his demons and the Antichrist, forever and ever, in the Lake of fire!

The devil shall never lift his head higher than the saint's heel.
