MONDAY November 16, 2020
Joy in the Will of God
… that I may be delivered from those in Judea who do not believe, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, that I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and may be refreshed together with you. Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
Romans 15:31-33
Paul had not only requested prayer for deliverance from persecution from those in Judea who did not believe in Christ, but he also wanted acceptance for his service to the Lord in Jerusalem. He was not looking for popularity or to make himself a name––real important. Paul’s heart in taking this missionary journey was to be in the center of God’s will, with joy. Paul knew his visit would refresh everyone–– including himself.
Imagine, Paul took leaps of faith to see where God would take him according to His will. He even worked for hours a day making tents to supply his own needs. He never placed a strain on the churches to support him. Paul always trusted in the Lord.
I believe those called of God to be missionaries should take a leap of faith and spy out the land. The Lord will place in their hearts where He desires for them to be. God opens the doors. The Lord will give a person vision and passion to make plans to establish a brand new work. It is important to go where the Gospel has not been preached. Remember, Jesus said to His disciples in John 15:16:
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
As a missionary, know that God will bring lasting fruit in those places. We learn from biblical history not to make our own plans, but to align our will with God’s perfect will––His plans. When you are in the center of God’s will, in your labor of love there will be joy. God’s peace will reign in your life.
The safest place to be is in the center of God’s will.
