Blessed with Grace

So David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, and that He had exalted His kingdom  for the sake of His people Israel. - 2 Samuel 5:12

I really love this verse because I see the great humility of David and the awesome grace of God. David knew everything he accomplished was done by the Lord. God had anointed him up. He had trained him, and, in His time, he raised David to be king of Israel. David knew it and he lived it. He did not take credit for everything God did in his life. He pointed to the Lord.

Why did God do all this for David? Why did he bless this one man so tremendously? He did it all for His people. Everything God did through David’s life was to bless David and to bless the nation of Israel. God was fulfilling His promises to Israel. He was pouring out His grace upon His people.

Like David, are you conscious of all the Lord has done in your life and the purposes of His blessings? Every blessing in your life has come from the Lord. Even through the trials, God was with you, molding and shaping you. He was training you up to serve Him and serve His people.

God cared for David; He cared for the nation of Israel—His people. Today, God cares for each one of us—His people. He wants to bless each one of us and use our lives to bless others. That is what is so incredible about following the Lord; your life will be blessed and God will use you to bless others. We just have to be open to be used by Him.

A man is not a Christian unless he can say with Paul, ’I am what I am by the grace of God.’
