God’s Great Power

...and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places....
Ephesians 1:19-20

Paul reminded the Ephesians of God’s great power––His incredible power, not our power! It was God’s mighty power that worked in Christ to raise Him from the dead. God allowed His Son to die for the sins of the world (John 3:16). On the third day, Christ resurrected. The word resurrect means “to stand up.” Jesus Christ resurrected; he stood up and is now seated at the right hand of God in the heavenly places.

The same mighty power that resurrected Jesus Christ from the dead is the same power that is working in and through us. God is working a great work in our lives! How does God’s power work? When we accepted God’s invitation to come to Him, we were made spiritually alive in Christ. And you He [Christ] made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1).

Consider all God has done for you. It is what He has done for you that counts. He has given us the power of the Holy Spirit to empower our lives:

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

We must have a complete reliance upon the Spirit of God’s power. Keep this in your minds and hearts as you serve the Lord. It was God’s will that Christ died on the Cross. He suffered tremendously and yet victoriously resurrected on the third day. As Christians, we shall suffer; but in our suffering, we shall grow to know Christ more intimately and come to know the power of His Resurrection. Be encouraged. God strengthens us by His power––never give up walking in fellowship with Him.

...that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
