All Have Sinned

…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God….
Romans 3:23

The Apostle Paul gave many indictments against mankind. In Romans Chapter 1, he gave scriptural proofs about sin and how the whole world was guilty before God. A long list was written describing the ways man sins against God. Paul described the theology of the universal sin of man––all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God! In his time period, Paul gave a black, bleak picture of the world––a depiction of depravation.

The Romans were great builders, and what was especially impressive were the Roman baths. Yet in these baths, the homosexuals performed perverted acts––older men had sex with young boys. They were so corrupt. What people witnessed with their eyes and ears was perversion. Sadly, this kind of perversion continues in our society today. People are no longer shocked by these sinful practices. They are accepted. People’s consciences have become so hard and calloused.

The nature of sin is buried and planted within our human character. Where did it all start? In the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve (Genesis 3). Imagine, children lie automatically––they are born in sin. As they grow into adulthood, they enjoy the pleasures of sin and seek it continually for more satisfaction. Yet sin never satisfies anyone; it cuts away to create a big hole in the heart. Eventually, sin causes the destruction of both men and women.

Corruption is spoken when people open their mouths. They say words to hurt others. Sinful words come from the heart. Have you heard a man or woman cuss? It is so degrading. There is no fear of God in their conduct. People need to check their hearts. It is not always “the devil made them do it.” Every person needs to take responsibility for their sinful actions. People reap to their sin––it is so sad. Think before you sin!

Addiction to sin is a universal curse from which we all suffer. However, there is deliverance in Christ if we turn to Him from sin—all of it, even that in which we secretly delight. The choice is ours.
