Having Access to God

(And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
Romans 5:16-17

Paul came to a peak in the book of Romans. He gave a preview of our standing before God. Sinners stand guilty in their sin, but a repentant sinner, receives abundant grace because of Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross. They stand before God justified––having received the gift of righteousness––they stand righteous––and at peace with God.

Christians walk with God without guilt or condemnation. Believers have been given a high privilege. They have access to God, and can come before His holy presence.

In England, a child sat at the palace gates, and as he watched the guards, he had such a desire to see the King of England. He went to one of the guards, and asked, “Excuse me, do you think I could see the King?” The guard pushed him away and said, “Move over child, you cannot get in.”

The child stood weeping and crying. Then all of a sudden, a man approached the child and asked? “What is the matter young man, why are you crying?” The child told him, “I want to see the King, but these guards will not let me in.” The man said, “Grab hold of my hand.” He took the child all the way to the King’s throne room. The man was the King’s son. He was the only one who could give the child access to the throne room to see the King.

Do you have access to God? Christians have it! When you accept Jesus as your Savior, it is as if you can take His hand and be led to the very throne room of God to receive the grace and help you need!

As believers, we now have direct access into the presence of God through Christ — our eternal High Priest and sacrifice for sin. Are we living in the reality of that access?
