No Condemnation

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8:1

As we enter Romans 8, Paul begins to expound on the walk of the Spirit. Every child of God needs to understand this important chapter and memorize it like the back of their hand! Paul spoke to his listeners on the subject of sanctification. The word sanctification means “to be set apart––to be holy.” Christians are also called saints. The word saints means “holy, sanctified.”

As Paul began to expound scripturally about our sanctification, we see that a child of God––a child of the light––can no longer live a life of sin. Christians cannot abuse the grace of God for their own benefit. A carnal Christian never really experiences victory; they experience the miseries of defeat. A life of disobedience shows a real weakness in the life of a Christian. They are not standing in victory upon the work Christ did on the Cross. Our victory is in the Cross. It is important to study the Bible and do what God says.

When a Christian fails, and they trip and fall into sin, especially new Christians, Satan often comes along to condemn them. They feel ashamed and condemned because they missed the mark––sinned. Satan lies and convinces them they cannot be forgiven—they are not saved. This is not true. We fall short and sin daily––we are not perfect. Listen, if you truly repent before God, He will forgive you: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Remember, condemnation leads us away from the Cross. Conviction leads us to the Cross (Romans 8:1-2). We are all sinners saved by grace. Salvation is the gift of God given to us.

In the cross, sin is cursed and cancelled. In the cross, grace is victorious and available.
