Do You Reckon Yourself Dead?

Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:11

Paul wanted Christians to get the point as if to say, “How many times do I have to tell you?” “You are dead to sin, yet alive to God in Christ!” Paul reminded and exhorted believers because he cared for their souls.

I believe Christians tend to forget how they must be dead to sin! They are to walk in newness of life. This is where Christ lives in them and through them. People are generally selfish. As Christians, we cannot live for self; we are to die to self and do what God wants us to do.

What is your spiritual temperature? Are you slipping and sliding by disobeying God’s Word and deviating from the truth? It is important not to slide backwards in your Christian walk. Know how to stand and be spiritually armed against your enemies. We do not fight against flesh and blood. Our enemies are described as: principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. They will come against us every single day of our lives. Therefore:

…be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 10:10-12).

Paul described our spiritual weapons that help us to stand:

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always… (Ephesians 6:14-18).

Have you reckoned yourself dead to sin? Then you can live a victorious Christian life.

There is no death of sin without the death of Christ.
