Hoarding Money

Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
James 5:4

James was smart in how he instructed Christians. He confronted employers who were fraudulent––those who had ripped off their employees instead of paying them. He warned, “Do you know God hears their cries?” James wanted them to know they would not get away with their greed. God is just and He will judge.

What strong temptation do the rich undergo? It is to bank and hoard money. Rich people tend to use their money to meet their own needs instead of helping the desperate and dying in the world. Think of families in Third World countries who struggle to survive financially. Honestly, there are people who struggle here in the States––they have nothing. Yet God has blessed others with so much.

I have found that as you look at the world today, the young adults do not want to work. Instead, they want to make money fast. They will use lawsuits, lying and cheating to get what they want. Ungodly children move back home with their parents. Some will try to dominate their parents; others cannot wait until they die so they can get their inheritance. We live in a money-craved society were the motto is, “If you do not have it, get it because you deserve it.” I believe God will not allow the world to continue this way.

The Apostle Paul reminded Christians about how to behave. If they had the means to do so, they should help others: “I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’ ” (Acts 20:35). Do you pass by those in need, or do you stop to assist those in need?

He who has a generous eye will be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor.
~Proverbs 22:9~
