God’s Guidance

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.
Psalm 32:8

Do you need God’s guidance as we enter into a brand New Year? Of course! Psalm 32 gives instruction and teaches us so that we can learn from God’s wisdom.  I encourage each one of us to start the coming New Year with a clean heart and God’s guidance.

In Psalm 32, we read how King David could not get away from God’s correction. He had committed adultery, lied about it, killed Bathsheba’s husband, and tried to keep all his sins a secret for about a year. God sent the prophet Nathan to David to confront him about his sin and bring conviction. David’s sin would bring terrible consequences within his family.

God loved David and disciplined him as a father would discipline his own son. He did not want him to remain in his sin. God’s hand of discipline was upon David; he could not hide from His presence. David felt the guilt of his sin and the heaviness of God’s discipline, until he acknowledged what he had done before the Lord.

The Lord graciously led David to a place where he would confess his sin and repent. In His kindness, God had led David to repentance. After true repentance, God began to once again speak with David. Fellowship was restored. The Lord would continue to instruct David and guide him.

Have you ever tried to hide from God? Understand that you can never hide from the presence of God. Instead of running from God, get alone with Him and take an examination of your life. If there is any secret sin found within your life, repent, and the Lord will erase your sin. The Lord loves you and wants to restore your life. If you are sincere and truthful, though you may reap to your sin, God‘s mercy will fall upon you.

“…do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?”
~Romans 2:4~
