The Revelation of Jesus Christ

But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Galatians 1:11-12

Notice, Paul spoke to Christians. He shared with the Galatians how God had placed a divine call on his life. How did Paul become an Apostle? Paul did not just wake up one day and become an Apostle! He did not go to the other Apostles, Peter, James or John, and ask them to lay hands on him for his apostleship.

Paul’s divine call happened on the way to Damascus, when Jesus appeared to Him. He dropped to the floor blind, as Jesus confronted Paul for his persecution. Paul never received his call from man. It was God who gave the Gospel to him––the only Gospel. Jesus saved him! Paul’s authority to preach came from the Word of God.

God spoke to Ananias, who was living in Damascus, about Saul of Tarsus, his original name. He wanted Ananias to lay hands on Saul and pray for him. At first, Ananias was very apprehensive, knowing the harm Paul had done to believers. However, in obedience, Ananias went and prayed for Saul. The scales fell off his eyes, Saul was able to see, and he was immediately baptized. Then for three years, Paul spent time alone with God in Arabia before he began his ministry (Acts 9).

The word revelation is the word “Apocalypse,” the same word used for the book of Revelation. The word revelation means “the unveiling or uncovering.” The Bible reveals and unveils the truth about God. It is important to study the Word of God so when He gives you opportunities to share the Gospel, you can reveal the Lord to them as written in His Word.

There are people who want to know the truth. They have an open heart to listen. When they are converted, they can share their faith with others. That was the heart and mind of Paul, to share the revelation of Christ.

The one who has come to trust in the salvation of Jesus for his soul will be content to rest in the revelation of Jesus for his mind.
