Godly Wisdom from Above

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
James 3:17-18

James makes a distinction between earthly, demonic wisdom and godly wisdom from above––it is pure and peaceable. In 1 Corinthians 14:33, we see that God is the author of peace among us. Godly wisdom activated in a Christian’s life will produce righteous fruit––peace.

Those who are not peacemakers can cause division. In gentleness and mercy try to reason with them. However, if a person continues to be a division maker, then break fellowship with them until God changes their heart.

Are you the cause of division? Then you need a change of heart. If you have allowed pride and divisiveness in your life to break fellowship with other believers in Christ, allow the Word of God to take effect in your heart:

Proverbs 8:13: The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate.

Proverbs 11:12: He who is devoid of wisdom despises his neighbor, but a man of understanding holds his peace.

Proverbs 13:10: By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well-advised is wisdom.

Ephesians 4:31-32: Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Can you lay aside your pride, forgive and be a peacemaker instead?

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
~Matthew 5:9~
