Finding Christ

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.
Luke 2:15-16

The shepherds believed the angel of the Lord’s words. The Lord had revealed to them where to find Christ. In unison, they agreed to leave their flocks and fields, and go into a crowded city in search of the Child. They found the Babe, lying in the manger, just as the angel of the Lord had told them.

After they had seen Jesus, they publicly made known what was told them about this Child. Those who heard marveled. Mary, the mother of Jesus, pondered all these sayings in her heart. As the shepherds returned to their flocks of sheep in the fields, they glorified and praised God, not only for the angels they had seen and heard, but for who they had found ––the Babe––Christ Jesus the Lord (Luke 2:17-20). They saw Him with their very own eyes!

Is your life filled with mundane work day after day? Do you feel empty and unfulfilled? You may ask yourself, “Really, is this all there is to life?” Perhaps you have not discovered the wonder of Christ. Life can seem monotonous until you discover the glad tidings of the Babe, wrapped in swaddling cloth, lying in the manger.

If you search for Christ in the Scriptures, you will find Him. You will know the love of God: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. When you find Christ, you will praise and glorify God for the birth of His Son. In Christ, you will find a new meaning in life—and in death.

Death to the wicked is the King of terrors. Death to the saint is the end of terrors, the commencement of glory.
~Charles Spurgeon~
