Communion with Christ
Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. - Acts 13:48
The Jewish people will continue to celebrate Simchat Torah until sundown today. They will celebrate receiving God’s Word, which guides and directs their lives, as the Law teaches them how they can still be in fellowship with a holy God, even though they are a sinful people. Think about it; even though Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden and were sent out, God still desired fellowship with them, so He gave them his Word.
In John 1:14, the Apostle said: And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus Christ is the Word. He came in the flesh and lived with His people, proclaiming salvation through faith. He left the Word with his disciples and they took it out to the Jews and the Gentiles. After Christ came, His Word was delivered to all the nations, providing a way of communion with Him, not just here on earth, but for eternity. The Word came and gave His life, so we could dwell with Him in eternity.
I love how the Jewish people celebrate God’s Word but as we have received God’s Word, Jesus Christ, and the salvation He provided through His death and resurrection, I pray we would celebrate His Word today and every other day, as we are blessed to know Him and have communion with Him.
I thirst for the knowledge of the Word, but most of all for Jesus Himself, the true Word.
