God Is the Potter

You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?” But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?” Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?
Romans 9:19-21

People need to understand the sovereignty and grace of God. Pharaoh resisted God and hardened his heart against God, and God honored his decision. When people reject God, He honors those decisions.

Everyone has been given the opportunity to repent and to be saved! God is merciful. The Scriptures declare Him to be a merciful God:

Psalm 25:6-7: Remember, O LORD, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, for they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; according to Your mercy remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, O LORD.

Psalm 51:1-2, 8: Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

Psalm 103: 8: The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

God has a great compassion for people. He is willing that none should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). If a person perishes in hell, they cannot blame God. They have to blame themselves––real important.

No one can ever bring a complaint against God. It would be like a potter who was given a complaint by the clay he was molding, “Why did you make me this way?” God is as the Potter; He can do whatever He wants with the clay. He can make vessels of honor or vessels for dishonor (2 Timothy 2:20-21).

But now, O LORD, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and all we are the work of Your hand.
~Isaiah 64:8~
