A Man of Renown

Then Samuel died; and the Israelites gathered together and lamented for him, and buried him at his home in Ramah. And David arose and went down to the Wilderness of Paran.
1 Samuel 25:1

Finally, the prophet Samuel died and was buried. The people lamented this great man’s passing. As a prophet, Samuel was a voice for God, sharing with the people the Word of the Lord. Samuel was used mightily in leading the nation of Israel. He prayed and instructed them. He advised King Saul and even rebuked him. What an amazing man of God!

Billy Graham was another incredible man of God. He preached the Gospel with such power and authority. God used him as a mighty voice to reach this lost world. I also think about Chuck Smith’s life and ministry. What a great example of a servant he has been to me! God has done such a remarkable work through his teaching. I remember Romaine, Chuck Smith’s assistant pastor, and the true call of God on his life. A. W. Tozer said we should follow the example of godly men:

The man who would know God must give time to Him. He must count no time wasted which is spent in the cultivation of His acquaintance. He must give himself to meditation and prayer hours on end. So did the saints of old, the glorious company of the apostles, the goodly fellowship of the prophets and the believing members of the holy church in all generations. And so must we if we would follow in their train.

It is important for me to have men of the Word and prayer placed around me––men who make things happen. Faithful men, who will be behind me 100% percent, come rain or shine! We build strong relationships in ministry. Christians become a part of a big family––the body of Christ. We pray for each other and bless each other in our fellowship.

Keep company with the soundest Christians that have most experience of Christ.
