Spiritual Adoption

...having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
Ephesians 1:5-6

Paul continued to write a list of many other blessings we have as believers in Christ. These blessings have become ours because Jesus died on the Cross for our sins. In God’s love, not only are we chosen, blameless, and holy, but God has also predestinated us to adoption as His sons and daughters. God’s desire is for us, as His children, to spend all eternity with Him. That is why He sent Jesus Christ into the world. His will is for people to come to know and receive His love and mercy.

Notice, God has predestined us, chosen us to be obedient to His Word, to be in submission to Him––to do His will. God desires to work in and through our lives according to His good pleasure. We are God’s pleasure. He loves us and desires we be in harmony with His will. The work of God’s kingdom can be accomplished through His grace, working through us. He desires to use us––to the praise of the glory of His grace. It is nothing of us.

As believers we are accepted in the Beloved––accepted by God only because of Jesus Christ. We cannot become accepted before God though any other person––only through Jesus Christ. He is the only one who can save a person––not Buddha, not Mohamed, not Jesus’ mother Mary, not Krishna, or any other person.

Jesus Himself declared: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6). We have a Bridge to God––Jesus Christ the Mediator. Are you trying to reach God through some other person? Jesus is the only One who can reconcile sinners to God.

For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all....
