Victory Over Sin

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
Romans 6:12-13

Drill this biblical truth into your mind––do not let sin reign in your mortal body. There is a clear distinction between the Spirit and the flesh. The words to reign in the Greek language literally mean, “Do not let sin continue to sit on the throne––to be king.” Who is to be on the throne? Our King––Jesus! Who sits on the throne governing your life, sin or the Spirit of God? If you are to have victory over sin, then Jesus needs to govern your life.

How is this to be accomplished? Present yourselves to God. As a Christian, every day you must voluntarily present yourself to God as a living sacrifice––by your own will! (Romans12:1-2) Otherwise, if sin reigns, when temptation comes, you will constantly be tripping and falling. You will remain a sinful person and be unable to freely serve God. Yet as you present yourselves to God and allow the Spirit of God to reign on the throne, that sinful person you used to be will remain dead, and you will enjoy a victorious, Christian life.

Christians who have victory over sin are brought to a place of joy and happiness––just having fun because of all the Lord has done for them. As a believer, you will be able to move forward in Christ to experience¬¬ His joy, peace and love.

In every Christian’s heart there is a cross and a throne, and the Christian is on the throne till he puts himself on the cross. If he refuses the cross he remains on the throne.
