Ask, Seek, Knock!

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
Matthew 7:7-8

Jesus mentioned three things we need to do in prayer: ask, seek and knock. We need to seek after God and have a continual life of prayer. In the Greek language it means: keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking––do not quit. We need to understand that the answer to our prayers might not come when we want it to happen.

Our prayers should not be demanding or conditional––what we want––they are always according to God’s will. Otherwise, we would be under the false teaching of those who believe in positive confession. They teach that whatever you speak will come into existence. Not so.

We need to be patient and wait on the Lord. God will open and close doors for us. Again, prayer should be on the basis of God’s will. Be open to what God wants to give to you.

God will bring the answer according to His timing. Sometimes our prayers are answered while we are on earth, and at other times, when we are in heaven. Our prayers continually ascend to the throne room of heaven––and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints (Revelation 5:8).

What a wonderful promise is given to us for all those who belong to the kingdom of God! Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit each day as you need a life of power for service in the kingdom of God.

A life touched by the Holy Spirit will tolerate sin no longer.
