So when I saw it, I fell on my face.

(Ezekiel 1:28b)

There is yet another image of what is taking place on the throne. In verse 28, Ezekiel has the good sense not to be foolish in the holy presence of God. He entered in as a human response to God’s affirmation. In his vision, he moves into the throne room and falls down in submission to the Lord. It was too high, holy, lofty, and lovely. Ezekiel, like Moses, knew that he could do nothing but get down on his knees and bow before the presence of a holy God.
