Then Peter, turning around saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following,

who also had leaned on His breast at the supper.

                                       (John 21:20)

This verse said that Peter turned. This is a contradiction because in verse 19 Jesus predicted the death that Peter would die and then said, “Follow Me.” The next verse should have continuity, showing that Peter did just that. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus said these words to His disciples, and they did exactly what He commanded. But, in John 21:20, Peter did not simply turn, but he also turned and looked at the disciple whom Jesus loved. Likewise, whenever you turn your focus off of Christ, you will always look in the wrong direction.
