I have finished the race.
(2 Timothy 4:7)
Bill Broadhurst, a partially paralyzed Christian runner competing in the Omaha Pepsi 10k, wanted to finish the race because Bill Rogers, his hero, was also in the race. When he finally reached the end, numb, exhausted, and alone, out of the alleyway stepped Bill Rogers and a gang of people. Rogers took the gold medal from around his own neck and put it around Broadhurst’s. Indeed, it’s easy to begin but hard to finish. The one thing necessary for life is staying power, and that is what most people lack. Yet there is great satisfaction in reaching the goal.
